EL6163 - An 1822 pattern William IV infantry officer's sword and brass scabbard. The pipeback blade is in quite good condition, but has some active rust that needs removing. The hilt with prominent William IV cypher and folding drop section is equally in quite good condition, retaining good shape and with only a little movement on the tang (caused by the loss of the leather washer at the blade shoulder). The shagreen is a little cracked at the pommel end of the grip but the grip wire is in place and tight. Definitely worthy of careful restoration, but due to the hilt construction it may not be possible to make the hilt fully tight on the tang again because the peened end is covered with a brass cap. The brass scabbard has the usual dings, but is otherwise in quite good condition.
