I am Matt Easton, the Director of Easton Antique Arms Ltd. I'm probably most known for running the YouTube channel Scholagladiatoria, where I talk about antique weapons and military history.
I also run the Schola Gladiatoria historical fencing clubs and FightCamp Events, as well as working with various companies on modern replicas for martial arts and fencing.
I have been collecting antique arms for nearly three decades and started dealing as a way to improve my own collection. My personal collection focuses mostly on non-regulation British officer's swords of the Victorian era, with a focus on British India. I also enjoy shooting historic firearms of the same period.
I studied history and archaeology at University College London, specialising in medieval military equipment and have never stopped studying since. I have lectured at various establishments including the Royal Armouries Leeds, the Tower of London, the Wallace Collection and the Hofjagd- und Rüstkammer in Vienna.
I have consulted for museums and worked with and appeared on various TV productions.
After working as a Whitehall Civil Servant for 17 years, while building up my own businesses, I became Head of Arms & Armour at a large London auction house, before making the transition to being fully self employed in 2018.
I now divide most of my time between Easton Antique Arms Ltd, my fencing clubs and events, my YouTube channel and replica development.
