EL6619 - A Wilkinson infantry officer's sword of WW1, with plain blade (almost un-decorated, except for the maker's mark). Numbered 45503 for the mid-war years, unfortunately there is no name recorded on the Wilkinson record book, so we'll never know who owned this. But they clearly wanted a non-nonsense fighting sword - aside from the plain blade, this sword also has an un-plated bare steel hilt, and extra large nodules on the shagreen (ray skin I think in this case), to give a surer grip. And the blade has been very seriously service sharpened, and is of slightly broader proportions near the tip than most examples of this patter. Everything is solid, the blade is bright and almost sharp still, the hilt and grip in very good condition. Housed in the original field service scabbard. A simple, but top quality and very nice sword.
