EL6147 - A Wilkinson 1897 pattern Indian infantry officer's sword, dated to 1927. These were made by Wilkinson and carry their best quality hexagonal proof slug and extra etching. They were purchased and imported into to India by the India Office for Indian Army infantry officers and they carry the GRI (Imperial version of George V's) cypher accordingly. The blade has been service sharpened, which unusual for a post-WW1 sword. Great quality and the blade is in great condition, bright with crisp etching, firm in the hilt. The grip shagreen and wire is very good and the metal elements of the hilt are generally good, but would benefit from some cleaning. The scabbard is rather worn, with some loss to the end (pictured). A top quality infantry officer's sword.
