EL6497 - Wilkinson infantry officer's sword (1845 pattern) dating to 1857. Numbered 8151, this sword is unresearched, but has been service sharpened, with some small edge nicks, so may have had an interesting history. A top quality sword of the time, in overall good condition, untouched with even patina to both blade and hilt, the scabbard having been painted black. Two main defects to mention are some deformation and related damage to the brass guard, and the very tip of the blade has been slightly blunted (this could be reshaped fairly easily). Everything is solid and this is a nice sword, although in need of some care.
