EL6661 - A three-bar cavalry or light cavalry sword by Gilligan, in an unusual leather scabbard. This sword no doubt saw an interesting life. It has a plain, un-etched blade, which has been service sharpened. A lot of the shagreen has worn off the grip, clearly during its service life, as the wood has been worn smooth from gripping. There is a small section missing from the bottom of the wood, but the hilt is pretty solid on the tang. I don't know the maker Gilligan. Overall an interesting sword, probably carried in the far reaches of Empire for a long time, now rather neglected and needing some TLC! The sword is very tight in the scabbard, but they clearly belong together.
