EL6932 - A good WW2/George VI era Wilkinson infantry officer's sword, 1897 pattern, numbered 66734 (for 1937) and unresearched. The GRI denotes British Indian Army service. Note that the blade has been reversed, so that the serial number is at the front, which almost certainly means that this sword has been refurbished at some time (therefore may have been carried on parade by later officers). This sword would be a great candidate for full modern parade standard refurbishment, so that it could be carried by a serving officer, and these are vastly better quality than any of the modern made options for commissioned officers. The sword is in overall very good to excellent condition, with crisp frost etching and mirror polish nickel plating to the hilt, however please note that there are some small blemishes to the blade, pictured. These are superficial and should polish out. Everything it tight and firm, and the sword is complete with the field service scabbard in good condition and the leather transport case, which carries the name W. V. Norris on the inside, and is still attached to the Sam Browne service belt. A lovely sword with modern parade use as an option and research potential.
