Product Details

EL6692 - WW1 British Indian Army infantry officer's sword (1897 pattern), by Wilkinson, with the officer's name (Frank Shaw) on the leather transport case. I have not researched this sword. The blade, as well as the serial number dating to WW1, also carries the ISD markings, showing that this was officially imported into India (there were strict weapon import regulations at the time). The blade has the slightest hint of patina, but is excellent, bright, with almost as-new etching, and totally firm in the hilt. The plating of the guard is showing a little age and hints of bubbling, but I suspect that with some mild polishing would look practically as new. The grip is excellent. Together with the original field service wooden and leather scabbard, and the transportation case, being thick leather on the outside (with 100 years of wear) and chamois lining case. A fantastic package, which would quite easily be brought back into parade service by a modern serving infantry officer.
