Product Details

EL6665 - An 1897 pattern infantry officer's sword, with the officer's name etched on the blade. 2nd Lieutenant Sandwith George Peter Cruddas, of the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry, served in WW1 and was killed at Ypres in 1915. The sword is probably Sheffield made, by an unmarked maker and retailer. The condition is average but solid. Everything is tight, but the etching to the blade is very rubbed and almost invisible, though the officer's name is fairly clear. The hilt is in good condition, as is the field service scabbard. Somebody in the past has added a label to the scabbard, which I have left in place.
