EL6656 - A good 'medium' (1 inch wide blade) infantry officer's sword by Wilkinson, to a named officer. Numbered 24979 (for 1882) and attributed to John Dunn (his initials J D also etched on the blade). He was born in 1862 in Australia and commissioned as Lieutenant in May 1882 into the King's 8th Regiment of Foot (Liverpool Regiment). In 1889 Lieut. Dunn was recorded as temporarily attached to the Army Service Corps, with the rank of Captain. He was stationed in the Far East. Dunn was a successful cricketer, playing for Hong Kong, and died in 1892 in a ship wreck - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Dunn_(cricketer) There is certainly more research to be done. The sword is in good condition, with a bright blade, service sharpened, firm in the hilt. The hilt is in good condition, with a bit of deformation to the brass guard and some wear to the shagreen from its service life. Complete with good matching field service scabbard.
