Product Details

EL6839 - A good Wilkinson 1897 pattern infantry officer's sword, numbered 38808 (for 1901) - one of the last Victorian examples. Added to this, the officer's initials are etched on the blade, but it is currently unresearched. With the date and the initials, then even if the Wilkinson record book does not give the name there is a very high chance of being able to match the sword to an officer. The sword is in very good condition, with a bright blade and hilt, just minimal patina. The etching is deep and crisp, and the blade is rock solid in the hilt. The shagreen and silver grip wire are very good. Complete in the original field service scabbard and sword knot. An excellent example with research potential and with minimal cleaning could be a modern serving officer's parade sword.
