EL6282 - A mid-Victorian infantry sergeant's sword and scabbard. The scabbard leather has broken at two points and requires repairing, but the sword itself is in good condition, with a clean blade and hilt - just requiring some cleaning. The brass guard is of the less typical type in that it has a folding drop section like an officer's sword. The blade is of the 'hybrid' type found on sergeant's swords in this period, with a 'quill' type foible. There are no government or regimental markings that I can see. The folding guard works as it should and the hilt is firm on the tang.
