EL6789 - Good quality Victorian light cavalry officer's sword by Hawkes. Featuring the large 35 inch blade, this example has a nice clean blade, with crisp fine quality etching. The hilt, besides age related patina, is in good condition, with good shagreen and grip wire, everything tight and the blade firm in the hilt. The blade features the officer's initials etched, but I have not researched these - it should be quite possible to pin this sword down to an individual with some investigation into the army lists. Complete with matching scabbard in good condition, though needing a clean up.
