EL6164 - A curious Victorian infantry officer's sword, perhaps even for a Sergeant or Cadet. The blade is only 30 inches long and quite narrow. The hilt seems to have been reconstructed some time in the past, with unusual shagreen wrap and risers underneath. The guard drop section has been fixed into a solid position. There is a small brass rivet/nail securing the backstrap to the grip. So the hilt has definitely been reconditioned, I would guess during the Victorian period. The hilt is firm on the tang. No scabbard.
