EL6340 - A Victorian Royal Army Medical Corps (RAMC) officer's sword, updated with George V 1897 pattern hilt during or after WW1. Made by quality maker Edward Thurkle of London. The blade must date to 1892-1901, and the hilt after about 1917/18. The RAMC officers retained he brass 'gothic' hilt until the end of WW1 in general. Therefore the officer who owned this sword must have been serving for at least about 20 years in the RAMC. The whole sword has been nickel plated, so it mostly bright mirror finish, though there are spots of corrosion here are there, to blade, hilt and scabbard. It could benefit from a little careful cleaning to these areas.
