EL6376 - A Victorian example of an Indian cavalry trooper's sabre, with an unusually broad blade (more like the original 1796 light cavalry sabre). Due to the shape of the blade and the early form of MOLE (of Birmingham) maker's stamp, I suspect that this is an early example of this model, perhaps from the 1860s or 1870s (most examples are from the 1880s to WW1). The remains of the scabbard are included, but this is in a very poor state, with some attempts at reconstruction - though thankfully the desirable and special chape remains. Some areas of pitting to the sword, but bright overall and all solid. The edge well service sharpened.
