Product Details

EL6318 - A rare regimentally etched officer's sword for a gentleman of the 3rd Essex Volunteer Artillery. This is a nice quality sword and everything remains tight and firm in the construction. The blade is a large 35 1/4 inches and in good condition, with even light grey patina, and finely executed etching. The grip shagreen and wire are in good condition and tight. The guard, backstrap and scabbard have all been subjected to light surface rust, which requires proper cleaning to bring the sword up to the standard it could be. The scabbard also has a bit of paint on it and some dents probably from its service life. A nice sword that would benefit from some easy work. All solid and nice in the hand.
