EL6230 - An 1895 pattern infantry officer's sword (only produced 1895-96), with Thurkle's proof slug and retailed by Knight of London, with the officer's initials etched on the blade (seem to be LEM). This is a very tidy example of the pattern and the 1892 pattern blade is a little different to the norm, being slightly broader at the centre of percussion than normal and with a correspondingly broader point. The blade is in very good condition with bright polish and crisp etching. The blade is firm in the hilt. The hilt is in equally good condition, with good plating and the shagreen grip well preserved. The thinnest strands of the grip wire have gone, but otherwise everything is good. The sword comes with the plated steel full dress scabbard and also the weatherproof carrying case.
