Product Details

EL6111 - A really lovely example of an 1821 pattern light cavalry officer's sabre. Three-bar guard, great shagreen and wire grip, and pipe-backed blade of 35 inches. All in excellent condition, with a very bright and clean blade, the etching being totally crisp and clear. The sword even retains an original sword knot, tightly bound in position. The etching shows Victoria's monogram, so this sword dates to 1837-1845, and complete with a scabbard that has been painted. The grip and backstrap are firm on the tang, though the 3-bar guard has a tiny amount of wiggle in it - though you do not notice this moving the sword around generally. The sword moves beautifully and is light for it's impressive size. A really great example of this pattern.
