Product Details

EL6689 - A good late-Victorian (1892-1895) Rifles officer's sword. Unknown maker, but good quality. Featuring a narrower blade than normal, but I would not quite call this piquet weight, as it's actually a fairly chunky blade, despite being narrower. Presumably a more thrust-centric version of the 1892 pattern blade than average. The hilt is the regulation 1827 Rifles pattern, so this sword should date to between 1892 and 1895, and it carried Victoria's cypher to the blade. The blade etching and polish excellent, high quality, detailed and in very good to excellent condition, with mirror and frost finish. The blade totally firm in the hilt. The scabbard is actually steel, but covered in stitched leather for field service. So overall a somewhat rare variant of the pattern in a very interesting one.
