EL6715 - An unusual naval cutlass. Based on the British 1845 pattern Royal Navy cutlass, but with a shorter (24 inch) straight blade with markings that are possibly not British. The blade, strangely, appears to be laminated and has a look of pattern welding. There is what appears to be the remains on writing on the spine of the blade, and my assumption is that this is an earlier blade that has been put (in period) onto an 1845 pattern hilt. The construction is all tight and secure and the blade has been service sharpened. No scabbard.
