Product Details

EL6592 - Scarce 2nd City of London Yeomanry sword. These were made in small numbers and are a unique pattern - essentially a scaled up infantry officer's sword, with a 34 inch blade, for use both mounted and on foot. This example by Hamburger is well service sharpened and was therefore presumably taken to South Africa around 1900 for the Second Anglo-Boer War. The blade is in very clean condition, with a well service sharpened edge, with a few very little nicks (pictured). The hilt and scabbard with dark patina and light pitting, the dark hardwood grip very good. You can clearly see the regimental stamp on the scabbard, and there seems to be a matching one on the underside of the guard (as there normally is), but this is currently obscured by corrosion. Would benefit from gentle restoration - quite a rare sword and a good example.
