Product Details

EL6232 - A superb Royal Scots (Lothian) Regiment field officer's sword, by good maker Edward Thurkle. The Royal Scots Regiment was the most senior Scottish regiment and this sword dates probably to the 1880s (certainly pre-1895 from the style of backstrap). It features the much-loved Scinde-style scroll hilt, coupled with the Highland regimental 'claymore' style blade, with its double fullers. This model of sword was carried by Field Officers, of Major rank or higher. The condition is excellent, with bright original polish all over and very crisp and original etching, including the quality maker's name and address, and the regiment's name. Everything is tight and solid and it is complete with the correct and original scabbard. A lovely sword and feels great in the hand too.
