EL6788 - A Rifles Officer's sword, made by Thurkle (according to the proof slug), probably circa 1860. The sword has been plated later in life, but has formerly been service sharpened, so presumably regular Army rather than Volunteers. In average condition, with areas of rust and some lifting and loss to the plating, in need of some case. Construction solid, everything tight, with an unusual inclusion of a washer on the inside of the guard, as well as the outside. Complete with scabbard.
