EL6374 - A rare HEIC infantry officer's sword (1822 pattern), featuring the HEIC lion to both hilt and blade, as well as Queen Victoria's cypher to the blade. Therefore the sword must date to 1837-1845. This is a superb and rare sword, in very good condition - even with the patent leather liner remaining to the hilt. The folding drop section works perfectly. There is some patina to parts of the blade, but overall it is bright and very clean, with crisp etching, showing the retailer/maker as Bond of London. The scabbard is also fortunately present, though the leather has sheared at the usual place and requires a fix or restoration. But having the scabbard at all is a bonus. The hilt is all firm on the tang.
