EL6459 - A scarce 'flat solid' bladed Royal Artillery officer's sword. Featuring an imposing 35.5 inch blade of robust proportions, which has been service sharpened, this sword probably dates to around 1850-1860. The blade is in good condition, with clear etching, by an unknown maker (the proof slug similar to Thurkle, but I think not Thurkle). The hilt is solid on the tang, though there is a tiny bit of movement to the back piece. The hilt has light pitting overall, and the shagreen is somewhat worn. Complete with matching scabbard, having similar pitting to the guard. An impressive and rare sword, with a great blade that feels good in the hand - a real fighting weapon.
