EL6442 - An attractive Rifle Volunteers officer's sword (c.1860-1867), with the unusual configuration of brass infantry officer's style hilt. The sword was Millan & Mann of Edinburgh (maker uncertain - either Birmingham or Solingen), who ceased trading in 1867, and the blade etching features thistles, showing that this was made from the outset as a sword for a Scottish volunteer officer. A possibly unique sword with certain Scottish provenance.
