EL6563 - A rare Persian cavalry sword, for an officer or NCO of the Persian Cossacks (probably of Russian manufacture) and modelled on the Russian M1865 sword. Dating to around 1890.Blade 33 inches long and well service-sharpened, having etched Persian emblem and writing to both sides. Hilt of Russian form, with plated brass knucklebow and pommel cap. Grip leather with wire wrap. Still retains the chain link belt hanger to the scabbard ring. Overall good condition - a little movement in the hilt (though the pommel cap unscrews, so this could be remedied). Some plating loss to the hilt and the scabbard rather bashed around, but the grip and blade are in very good condition.
