EL6235 - A lovely 1845 pattern Royal Navy cutlass with rare scabbard. This is the true 1845 pattern (many of which were shortened in 1858-60, but this remains in full size) and very unusually it has the original leather scabbard with brass belt hook. Most of these cutlasses never had scabbards, as they were kept bare-bladed in racks on ships. The ones with scabbards were intended for shore parties and cutting out actions. There are no markings on the cutlass that I can see, but besides the usual degree of pitting to the iron hilt (sea air), it is in very nice condition, with a mostly bright blade, all firm and solid in the hilt. A great example of the pattern.
