Product Details

EL6912 - A French M1854 dragoon or cuirassier pallasch, captured in the Franco-Prussian War of 1870, with the blade professionally shortened by the Prussians to 32 inches and thereafter marked for and used by the Prussian Garde du Corps. The spine of the blade showing that this was originally made at the state arms factory of Châtellerault in February 1865. The shortening of the blade by the Prussians (after being captured from the French in 1870) has been carried out very well, with the tip re-formed and the edge of the blade has also been well service sharpened. The hilt is solid on the tang, with no movement, and there are multiple unit and approval markings which could aid with further research. Leather grip in very good condition, but missing the wire. Complete with correct original scabbard.
