EL6601 - A highly desirable pre-numbered (so dating between 1845 and 1854) Crimean War era Wilkinson infantry officer's sword, with the coat of arms, crest and motto associated with the surname Forster. There are a number of Forsters in the Army List for 1854, so some interesting research lies ahead! The sword is in lovely condition for an early example, the only real flaw being the lack of scabbard. The blade with patina, which attractively highlights the very detailed etching, the blade being service sharpened for campaign, and being firm in the hilt. The drop works perfectly and the grip is in good condition. A lovely and desirable sword, with lots of research potential. Very likely to have been taken on campaign in one of the wars of the 1840s or 50s.
