ELC1067 - An immaculate British-made 1796 pattern light cavalry troopers' sabre, from the Dutch arsenal. Made by top British makers Osborn & Gunby (between 1808-1820). Complete in scabbard (numbers not matching, but from the same troop apparently), the blade and hilt are in great condition. The leather of the grip remains and everything is tight and solid. There is a tiny bit of loss to the bottom of the grip where it meets the knucklebow. The blade has been sharpened. The scabbard is a rather tight fit for the langets, but it does go all the way on. These swords were manufactured on contract in Britain in the later Napoleonic era, for the Dutch Army. They were then kept in stores until sold recently. Really fantastic condition for a 200+ year old sword.
