EL6319 - A 1st Northumberland Volunteer Artillery officer's sword, with the officer's name (Lieut. I. Carrick) etched on the blade. The sword retailed by Hobson and made by Thurkle, c. 1860. A quality sword in structurally good condition, in need of gentle restoration. The blade is in quite good condition, with clear etching, though with some staining and dark patina. The shagreed grip and wire in good condition. The hilt is firm on the tang. The exposed metalwork of the hilt and scabbard with a light coating of rust, which should clean off with a little dedication. Unresearched, so also potential to add provenance.
