ON HOLD
EL6657 - A good Volunteer Rifles officer's sword, named to J. H. Searle. Searle turns up in lots of Surrey Rifles research, and seems to have been active in the 1870s and 1880s. The Surrey Rifles were active in Guildford, Dorking, Reigate and other well known locations in Surrey. The sword itself is in very good condition, with clean and clear etching and a lot of original polish. The blade firm in the hilt. The scabbard has unfortunately become separated from the sword, but otherwise this is a great attributed example.
