Product Details

EL6841 - A King's Royal Rifle Corps (KRRC) officer's sword by Wilkinson, numbered 25316 (for 1883), named to Edward Tatton Pakenham (1859-1931). We have the Wilkinson proof book record naming the buyer of the sword, and the excellent blade is beautifully etched with Pakenham's initials and crest, as well as the regimental name and battle honours. Pakenham was born in 1859, commissioned into the KRRC as 2nd Lieutenant in 1879, Lieutenant in 1881, Captain in 1888. The sword is in very good condition, with an almost-excellent blade. There are a few spots of patina at the base of the blade, but 90% of the blade is absolutely excellent, with bright original mirror polish and frost etching. Extremely good condition for the age. The blade is totally solid in the hilt. The hilt has some patina to the guard, but this could probably be polished out, the grip shagreen and silver wire are excellent. Everything tight. The scabbard with patina, but basically in very good condition. An absolutely top quality sword in very good to excellent condition, named with more research potential and to an illustrious regiment.
