Product Details

EL6829 - A mystery Georgian era officer's sword! In basic form, this is clearly based on the British 1796 light cavalry sabre, but has a narrower blade, 30 inches long, and a brass guard and backstrap. There are no markings to help be more specific about its origin or use, but we can say it must be an officer's sword of c.1796-1820. It could be British, American or one of Britain's allies in the war against Napoleon (eg. Dutch). Dark patina to the blade (which could be polished up), the hilt in good condition and firm on the tang. No scabbard.
