EL6840 - An excellent Rifles officer's sword by Wilkinson, numbered 10031 (for 1859). The hilt and scabbard are both plated, I believe the former with a silver alloy due to the nature of the patina. Based on my research and the Wilkinson proof record (pictured), there are a few possible candidates for who originally ordered this sword. Those options are listed below, and they might help with further research. The sword is absolutely top quality, having the expensive plating option for the time, the very detailed etching on the blade and silver grip wire. The blade is in excellent condition, bright with minimal patina, absolutely firm in the hilt, the hilt in very good condition, with just a couple of very small areas where the plating is a little corroded, but is otherwise excellent. The grip shagreen and silver wire are excellent. Complete with the plated scabbard in very good condition, it sheathes beautifully thanks to the intact liners inside. This is quite a robust example of the pattern and feels great in the hand. Possible officers:
