Product Details

EL6143 - A mid-Victorian Middlesex Artillery officer's sword made by top maker Benjamin Thurkle. This is a really nicely proportioned sword and handles great, being a very slightly scaled-down version of a light cavalry officer's sword. Everything is solid and in generally very good condition, with a bright blade, good shagreen and grip wire and the blade has been service sharpened (which is curious for volunteer artillery - maybe the officer joined the regular Army later). Apart from missing its scabbard, the only other downside to this sword is that the etching is very faint now and you can barely read Thurkle's name or the Middlesex of Middlesex Artillery - but you can just about. A good quality sword.
