Product Details

EL6680 - A high quality infantry officer's sword retailed by Anderson and made by Mole of Birmingham. The sword would be in excellent, almost immaculate, condition, were it not for the water damage to the edges of the blade. Lots of gilt remaining to the hilt and scabbard fittings. Lots of original mirror polish and frost etching. The hilt, with original black patent leather liner still in place, is firm on the tang and the folding drop works perfectly. The grip is excellent. It even has the remnants of the original sword knot. The sword dates to around 1850. Unfortunately the leather scabbard has let the damp through, and this has caused rust and pitting to the edges of the blade. I have removed all active rust and stabilised it as best I can, but there remains dark staining and small areas of pitting, which realistically it will not be possible to do much about. Priced accordingly, but a really lovely and top quality sword otherwise.
