EL6103 - A mid-Victorian Wilkinson infantry officer's sword, which was sold to an outfitter in April 1864. Sadly therefore there is no way of knowing who bought this sword, but given the brass scabbard, they were probably an officer of Field Rank (Major or above). The blade is in good condition, bright for the most part and with clear detailed etching. The tip has been very slightly re-shaped, presumably due to minor damage/blunting. The blade is firm in the hilt and the leather washer remains. The guard is somewhat deformed in parts and one of the thinner strands of the grip wire is a bit loose. The shagreen is good, but the hilt as a whole would benefit from some careful cleaning, as would the blade.
