Product Details

EL6273 - A superb example of the 1845 pattern infantry officer's sword, retailed by Landon and made by Benjamin Thurkle, of robust proportions and etched with the officer's initials (unresearched). This sword probably dates to around 1850-60 and is in very good condition, with the brass and leather scabbard which fell out of use generally after about 1860. Everything about this sword is robust, with a good sized grip, thick brass guard and heavier than average blade. The etching is deep and clear. The scabbard is in good condition. Benjamin Thurkle was one of the best sword makers of his time.
