Product Details

EL6827 - A late-Victorian Royal Navy cutlass, probably of the 1870s or 1880s. This model is somewhat difficult to assign a pattern name, as it post-dates the 1845 pattern (and 1858 conversion) and pre-dates the 1889 pattern, having an 1845 style bowl, full width patent tang, and straightened shorter blade than the earlier model. Featuring a 26.6 inch blade, with patina and a couple of small nicks, and original black paint remaining to the cast iron grip and steel guard. It has the look of a Lead Cutter, and the period Lead Cutters were obviously modelled on this cutlass type. No maker's mark or government markings that I can see, but it does have the number 1 painted on the guard. Total weight 1040g.
