EL6102 - A very Late-Victorian (1895-1901) light cavalry officer's sword by Mole of Birmingham. This is a good quality sword in fairly good condition, with a bright blade and everything solid. The VR cypher on the blade combined with the post-1895 straight fully-chequered backstrap gives us the dating. The large 35 1/4 inch blade has been fully service sharpened. The scabbard is of steel and leather, being flexible and without the usual wooden liners - coupled with the style of the scabbard mounts this may indicate Indian service.
