EL6394 - A Wilkinson made 1897 pattern infantry officer's sword, dating to 1899, for Charles Alexander Cunningham. Cunningham served with the 2nd Battalian Leicestershire Regiment from 1899-1904, and in WW1 with the King's Own Scottish Borderers from 1914-15. A document of research on him accompanies the sale of this excellent sword. The sword itself is superb, in almost perfect condition, with a bright blade in original polish, with profuse and crisp etching. The hilt is also in excellent condition, with the only defect worth mentioning being a missing strand of silver grip wire. Everything is tight and solid, and the sword comes in a very interesting leather field service scabbard with plated mounts, which is not wooden cored as most are. A fantastic sword and lots of research, for a man who had an interesting military and civilian life.
