EL6712 - An 1896 pattern cavalry officer's sword, with the Indian Army VRI cypher (dating this to 1896-1901), made by Pillin and retailed by Harman of Calcutta. This was either purchased by a British or Indian officer serving in the late-Victorian Indian Cavalry. The blade of Indian type, with leather (no wood) scabbard, with alloy locket (chape missing). The big 36 inch blade in quite good clean condition, with slightly faint etching. Hilt in good condition with very good grip. A tiny bit of movement in the guard, but the rest of the hilt firm on the tang.
