EL6604 - A great example of the type of 'paget'-bladed cavalry sword being used by most Indian Army cavalry between c.1875 and 1918. This is probably a late-Victorian example, as it had Edward Thurkle's name on, which probably means it is pre-1897. It probably dates c.1880-1895. Thurkle were one of the best makers of the day, and produced a lot of swords for the Indian Army. A clean example with excellent etching, wooden grip and standard 1821-style three bar guard. The blade, of just under 32 inches long, and hilt are tight, no movement, and the blade has been well service sharpened during its life. No scabbard.
