EL6316 - A late-Victorian (1897-1901) infantry officer's sword, 1897 pattern, by Mole of Birmingham. In good structural condition, but with cosmetic issues! The blade is partially in original polish with lovely etching, but also with areas of rust and corrosion. It is firm in the hilt. The hilt is dirty and covered in a layer of thin surface rust, which should be cleaned. The grip is in good condition with all the shagreen and wire. The scabbard is of an unusual type, being leather only (no wood), with steel fittings. A top quality sword that has been neglected - it could be brought back to a pretty good standard with work. Priced accordingly
