EL6711 - A larger than normal (36 inch blade) 1821 pattern heavy cavalry officer's sword, from George IV's reign (dating 1821-1830 therefore). The blade has patina overall and the etching is rather difficult to see, but you can just about see the GR IV. Otherwise the blade is in good condition, I think probably once service sharpened, and quite firm in the hilt (the tiniest movement in the guard). The hilt is in quite good condition for the age, some patches of loss to the shagreen, but all the silver wire intact, and the guard and backpiece quite bright and clean. The rear quillon has been removed in period for some reason (maybe comfort on parade at attention). No scabbard.
