EL6306 - A good quality 19th century Indian tulwar, with the remains of silver plating and decoration to the iron hilt, and a beautifully shaped blade in good bright condition. The hilt was originally silver plated all over, with incised floral decoration, but roughly 50% of this has sadly lifted from the hilt as the iron rusted underneath in a humid environment at some point. The blade however is very well preserved (probably by a scabbard which has been since lost), having a bright surface for the most part and fine edge. The blade is firm in the hilt and carries some delightful engraved decoration, as well as having a well formed fuller which is partially outlined by further engraving. This was originally a high status piece and the blade is very nicely proportioned.
