EL6132 - A good quality 19th century Indian tulwar, of robust proportions and having a pattern-welded blade and maker's stamp. There is extensive pitting over the blade and iron hilt unfortunately, but it is clear that this chunky tulwar was once quite a high status weapon, with its pattern welded blade visible in parts (this could be enhanced with re-polishing and etching). The armourer/maker's mark on the forte of the blade by the hilt langet. The pommel has a very attractively fluted dome design and the disc is of smaller diameter than average, making the sword very comfortable to hold for unaccustomed hands. The hilt is solid on the tang and the blade is of particularly impressive proportions, feeling very impressive in the hand. A really nice tulwar that would benefit from a little work.
